Christians React to the Death of Atheist Activist Rob Sherman: “Great News!” “Wonderful!”

Do you know, I haven't even read this article, as the 'Heading' is quite something, and 'says it all'... No matter what I believe, or actually don't believe, and no matter what I 'Say' about each and every 'Religion', is exactly just that, 'Just Words' and I would never wish any single person dead, even through all the atrocities that has been done and is being done, no matter what they believe different from me, but the minute they harm another human being physically or mentally, then I will always be there to fight for that person, but I would never wish the perpetrator dead! Yes they need punished, but I would hope that the world in general, will one day 'get it'! That this is the only life we have and no one has the right to harm another human being because of 'their belief'... This guy sounds as if he is even gloating about this... How... Why... Where the F**k do we get these people from and can they not see what they are doing??? What has happened to the nice Christianity that there used to be! No wait a minute, there has never been such a thing! OMG! indeed...

This post was taken from the "Furious Atheist" Facebook page...

This is probably my favorite argument to shut preachy people the fuck up. They usually don't have the first clue about their bible and that they should be going after people that already believe in the bible. More to the point, I like to use it to show them that they are not getting in either.
///Almost nobody is gonna make it to heaven, according to the bible:
Matthew 7:13-14
"Enter through the narrow gate because the gate and road that lead to destruction are wide. Many enter through the wide gate. But the narrow gate and the road that lead to life are full of trouble. Only a few people find the narrow gate."
Most people will stray from his path and miss out on heaven.
Luke 6:46
“Why do you call me Lord but don’t do what I tell you?"
Clearly he wants his commands to be followed, and that if you don't, you are not of his followers.
Mark 10:17-29
"As Jesus was coming out to the road, a man came running to him and knelt in front of him. He asked Jesus, “Good Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. You know the commandments: Never murder. Never commit adultery. Never steal. Never give false testimony. Never cheat. Honor your father and mother.” The man replied, “Teacher, I’ve obeyed all these commandments since I was a boy.” Jesus looked at him and loved him. He told him, “You’re still missing one thing. Sell everything you have. Give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then follow me!” When the man heard that, he looked unhappy and went away sad, because he owned kingdom of God!” The disciples were stunned by his words. But Jesus said to them again, “Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” This amazed his disciples more than ever. They asked each other, “Who, then, can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and said, “It’s impossible for people to save themselves, but it’s not impossible for God to save them. Everything is possible for God."
(Also see Matthew 19:21 and Acts 4:34)
When asked here, jesus basically says he is not yhwh, and only yhwh is good. Then to the point of gaining access to heaven, he only quotes OT laws as he way to salvation.
Luke 14:25-33
"Now great crowds accompanied him, and he turned and said to them, “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ Or what king, going out to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace. So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple."
( see Matthew 24: 40-44 and Luke 17: 30-37)
So clearly, there are strict rules to following jesus, they are countenced here with the main theme being selflessness.
2 Peter 2:1-3
"But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep."
People will rise among the christians and teach a false doctrine. This is more to do with the massive amount of diversity in the early church, but it does very much ring true of the christianities of today.
Faith alone isn't enough:
James 2: 8-17
"If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty. For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."
A rebuke of the Pauline salvation is a free gift and the law is invalid. James, is clearly saying that all of the purpose of the law is valid.
You must follow the commandments of social rule:
Matthew 5:17-19
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."
Luke 10:25-28
"And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.”
Matthew 15:1-4
"Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat.” He answered them, “And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die."
(also see Mark 7-10 and Luke 18:20)
Mark 10:1-12
"And he left there and went to the region of Judea and beyond the Jordan, and crowds gathered to him again. And again, as was his custom, he taught them.
And Pharisees came up and in order to test him asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” He answered them, “What did Moses command you?” They said, “Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of divorce and to send her away.” And Jesus said to them,“Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment. But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” And in the house the disciples asked him again about this matter. And he said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her, and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”
As support for these verses an an extrapolation of the severity and seriousness of this point:
Matthew 19:10-12
"The disciples said to him, “If such is the case of a man with his wife, it is better not to marry.” But he said to them, “Not everyone can receive this saying, but only those to whom it is given. For there are eunuchs who have been so from birth, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Let the one who is able to receive this receive it.”
There are very few people who do any of this, there are even fewer who do all of it. There are none I have ever known personally. Just by what the bible has to say on the matter, very few christians will even make it to heaven. It is fools errand, set out by a Hellenistic jew and morphed by later generations who deified him. Heaven is near unattainable according to the bible. It is a bunch of wishful thinking and a control mechanism, wise up already.///
